Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad is being widely acknowledged as a visionary and a farsighted leader who has made significant contribution towards the growth of higher education in Maharashtra. He has gained a multifaceted and an enlightening experience during his long stint of 32 years in the Education domain and also known for his excellent academic credentials in the Field of Technology and Management.
Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad did his Masters in Mechanical Engineering followed by the doctorate in Management studies. He had made a modest beginning as a Faculty member with the Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) and risen in the ranks to become the Director of the MIT college of Engineering & MIT Polytechnic.
He is the harbinger and strong proponent of the Holistic and value based education in the country. He has been playing a pivotal role in the Internalization of the Higher education and made substantial contribution for bringing the effective governance into the education system. He is famous for his problem solving skills and inspiring leadership in the Organization. His ability of maintaining the balance and composure in the toughest of situations differentiates him from his contemporaries.
He is instrumental in the diversification of the course and programs in the MIT-ADT University. He is being credited for launching the niche programs in the Field of Marine Engineering, Bio-Engineering, and Food Technology etc. Multidisciplinary approach and the micro specializations in the MIT-ADT University is the manifestation of his out of the box thinking. He has gained phenomenal expertise in project management and in laying the strong foundation for the medical colleges in Maharashtra and the other states of the country. He has also made remarkable contribution in the area of policy making for the Higher education sector.
He is famous for his benevolence and the acts of philanthropy. He has been making concerted efforts for the pilgrimage upliftment and the social transformation. He is holding various portfolios in the associations, universities and the Government bodies. He is amongst the Management council members of the Pune University. He was also empaneled as an advisory board member for the planning commission in the past. He is currently heading PERA as a President and officiating as a Vice President for the EPSI.
